We started our first cycle of instrumental music lessons at The Baltimore Station Shelter on February 3, 2020. We have two pianists, a guitarist, bassist and a percussionist enrolled in the program, which will run in eight-week cycles.
The marvelous YAWN JONES, JR. is teaching all of the instruments. Yawn is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer with degree in Music Education from University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Yawn has played jazz guitar in the Eastern Shore Jazz Band ensemble under the direction of Dr. John Lamkin were he shared the stage with Lionel Hampton, Shirley Scott, Dorothy Donagan, Robin Eubanks and Charles Fambrough. Yawn has 13 years of combined teaching experience in the public and Catholic school system. He also teaches clarinet, saxophone, piano, bass guitar and music production at the Music Workshop to young and older students who have an interest in furthering their music journey.
Jim generously donated two digital keyboards, an acoustic guitar and a drum kit to the lesson program. We are so grateful for the wonderful gift that makes it possible for each man to have his own instrument during the eight-week lesson cycle.
